The tooth is loosened but still in its original position.
Clinical
- Increased mobility without change of position
- Sensitivity to percussion
- Possible bleeding from the sulcus
Radiological
- Tooth is normal (correct and not shifted position)
- Additional fracture in the root area should be ruled out
Therapy
- Splinting for approx. 2 weeks (for the reduction of touch-sensitivity)
- No root-canal treatment, also if there is initial absence of reaction to the sensitivity test
Prognosis
- Vitality of the pulp maintained in > 85% of cases
- Increased risk of pulp necrosis in the case of additional, unfilled dentine wounds or exposed pul
- Resorptions very unlikely and where they do occur these are almost exclusively transient resorptions
